Mike, I have a similar situation. Kind of. 2000 Silverado, 4.8, 4wd, 130000 miles. The A/C works great for the 1st 5-10 minutes then blows warm air. Sometimes, it feels like it wants to blow cool, but most of the time, it doesn't. Pressure is Ok. I had it serviced last week and when I scheduled the appt, the service guy said that he was sure that the problem was in the wiring for the cycling switch. However, when I actually took it in, another person was there and they could not find a problem. They said it was probably an internal compressor problem and would cost $1100 for a new compressor. I had already changed the cycling switch with a part from Autozone with no change. I still think that it is in the circuit for the cycling switch but haven't had the time to check it out myself. I live in Phoenix and need to get it repaired pretty soon (or maybe I should say 'last week').
I have a friend that has the same truck except 2wd and 5.3 engine with 180000 miles and he is having the same A/C problem.
Good luck :D
