Hello,
Does this typically happen when the engine is hot or cold?
It almost sounds like a faulty crank position sensor.
When a crank sensor goes bad it will have random not starting up.
Up hill or down hill will not make a difference for the crank sensor.
Usually is there is a issue when the vehicle is on a up hill/down hill orientation, it typically a fuel starvation issue. Like if you are very low on fuel and the pump is not picking up enough to get the engine started.
There could be an issue with the fuel pressure regulator.
