2001 monte carlo has no sound out of speakers radio works fine just no sound

CHances are the amp is bad in the radio. It will turn on and appear to work fine, but wll produce no sound. Remove the radio and identify the speaker wires. Using a D-cell battery, touch the speaker wires to the battery. You should hear a popping sound in the speaker. IF you do, the speaker and wiring to that speaker is good. If you find them all good, have the stereo checked at a car audio shop.
