The temp guage is reading past 260 degrees even though the car is cold i.E. Just started from over night
Radiator fluid levels are in proper range

Hi helpmic,

I don't know which engine you have, but if it is the one with the nice plastic cover over the top of the engine, you need to remove the cover and check your wiring harness that runs along the top of the valve cover for rodent damage. Rodents love these nice closed-in areas and they'll build a nest in there in a very short time using materials they can chew up in the general vacinity.

I hope this hasn't happened to you, but it's worth a check.
