The starting motor turns over, but CAR WILL NOT START. Also noticed that when this occurs, and I am turning igniton switch to start position, I can NOT hear fuel pump. After some trobleshooting (checking relay, wiring, 12-13 V at pump) I realized just by disconnecting and reconnecting 8PIN connector back at tank that fuel pump will then work. It is as if this action resets the system? It is an intermittent problem and sometimes car starts no problem. However, do not want to have to be lying underneath back of car disconnecting and reconnecting fuel tank wire harness- WINTER IS COMMING! PLEASE HELP!

You may have bad terminal tension in the electrical connectors. Take a look at that. Just to be sure, there is no check engine light on or security light on correct?

I have a 99 cavalier that seems to have almost the same problem. I have replaced almost everything possible even had my head and gaskets checked and now the only thing I hear it the injectors. Good luck I hope your cavalier doesnt get as expensive as mine has they seem to be horrible nothing but problems
