I own a 1989 chevy camaro I rocz. It has a 305 tpi. 5.0l the work iv'e done to it is changing the fuel pump, fuel filter, water pump, and front pads. Iv'e only had the car for 4 months. Now it wont stay running. It starts up and runs for a few seconds then shuts off. The only way I can keep it running is by repeatedly stepping on and off the gas pedal rapidly. Its worse now that we changed the fuel pump now I cant even get it to stay running for that long. It kinda sounds like its backfiring from the front of the engine. And it also sometimes runs longer than other times. If u could just let me know some possibilities it could be that would be very helpful.

Sounds to me like a bad fuel pump, even though you just replaced it. Well first thign to do is check for voltage at the fuel pump, if you have no voltage then the pump wont work and you should check all wires and relays.

Next if there is 12v at the fuel pump and you hear the pump turning on check for fuel pressure at the fuel rail.

If you dont hear the pump turning on try puting +12v on it if it still dont turn on replace the pump.
