I bought the car listed above used. I do not know if check engine light will come on or not when starting. I only read in the manual that it does light up abs, esl, seat belt, srp but does it include Check Engine? Somehow it is affecting transmission of the car it is connected to transmission the RPM through CANBUS?

Hi,

The vehicle does have a CEL. It should turn on when the key is first turned to the run position. Have you checked for diagnostic trouble codes? Is there power to pin 16 at the data link connector under the dash?

Let me know. Also, confirm there is power to fuse 1 in the fuse panel under the dash and the fuse is good. Additionally, confirm there is continuity to ground via pin 4 at the connector.

Let me know what you find.

Sorry I forgot to mention the error code p0700- transmission control system request, it disappeared when I restarted the car. Fuse 1 has power and pin 16. Thanks for the electrical diagram it helped a lot. The negative terminal of the battery has to be removed before installing the busted bulb from the dashboard, the car is not in limp mode anymore, thank you very much.

Hi,

Thanks for the update. The P0700 is a generic code indicating a trouble code is stored in the transmission control module.

Is everything working properly at this time?

Let me know.

Hi, I am still having a problem with the same car listed above w208 coupe model, I order my key to be duplicated in the net after paying an amount I never saw my fob key and his, so I order a used one with fob, eis, esl and eco. After installing everything I cannot open my sunroof. The guy I ordered the used eco said the sunroof electrical line is not included in the eco. I already checked the fuse and dome light connections, all are okay, no error in a simple diagnostic scanner tool.

Hi,

What you should do is have the can-bus scanned for codes. Most basic scan tools are limited to powertrain issues only.

CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, all the computers/modules on the vehicle are tied together via a few wires. As a result, the modules, regardless of their purposes, communicate with each other. If you scan the system, the right scanner will identify trouble codes regardless of the module they are stored in.

Here is a link showing how it's done:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/can-scan-controller-area-network-easy

This is what I suggest trying. Hopefully, it will help identify the issue.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
