So, I had my alternator bench tested and it is putting out 14 volts yet is not charging the battery. I'm not the original owner of the truck so I'm not familiar with what wire goes where. it has a Remy Delco alternator a black and red wire come out of the harness connection to the harness plus a brown wire the brown wire goes into the harness, but the red and black wire release I connected to the red wire to the battery wire still not charging. I'm lost, could anybody please help?

Hi,

I'm not sure which engine you have, so I went with the 5.7L which was one of the most popular at that time.

I attached the wiring schematic below. If the alternator isn't charging the battery, my first suspect is one of the two fusible links I'm seeing in the schematic.

If you haven't, confirm continuity on each end of the cables/links.

Let me know what you find.
