It wouldn't be the first time a remanufactured was built wrong, but I would probably open it up and verify what you have, it's possible that the springs that came out were reversed and that one was added during the rebuild. I would look over the parts and the build book and see if what you have matches that. Not sure how to ID the springs, usually they use a daub of paint, but it may have washed off in the fluid.

Okay, just so I am clear, I am going to go ahead and pull the valve body and this time also pull the low/reverse accumulator as well. We already know that there is a double spring where a single should be according to all of the rebuild info. You are right about the fluid washing any markings off and I am not sure what to do about that. Is there any reason you could think of that a double spring would be put in place of a single other than a mistake? I guess checking the LR accumulator will tell us a lot. It may take me a few, but I will be back asap with the results. Have a great day!

About the only thing I can think of for the springs would be to visit a transmission shop and get marked known location replacements.

I was thinking the same thing. When you say marked known location replacements, does that mean I will be able to tell which is ud and which is od? I want to get it right once and for all. I wonder if a shop might also be able to get bolts for putting the VB back on the tranny? I had major issues with a few stripping. Doesn't hurt to ask I guess. Of course the shops are closing for the day, but I may get a call to one in. Thank you

Yes, you would get a spring in a baggy with the part number on it (and others if you wanted to replace them all to be sure)and the location for that spring. That way you know for sure that the springs were correct. You might also ask them if they have seen X=problem and what they found.
Parts wise it looks like these are the spring numbers
4800209AB - Underdrive spring outer - colored blue
4800310AA - Inner spring
4471880 - Overdrive spring

Well, the springs not so easy to find. Also, a guy told me that sometimes when they use rebuild kits, they will put a dual sping in to make for better shifting, but he agreed that I should take it out and check everything. He also said the springs are interchangable in the A604s, just not the newer ones. So, my plan is to drop it, check things and probably reuse the springs if I don't have a choice. Then if that doesn't work, I will go back to the wiring. Sure looks simple written down. Don't know what I would do without you. No matter what, I owe you big time.

Hello Steve, I am so excited to get to tell you it is fixed! You were right! It was the solenoid pack. I ended up getting another one, because after all I did, it was still acting the same way it was when I put the other one in. And I don't know how I missed it, but the other one was not new. So, I was able to get my money back and went with Mopar and got to drive my car for the first time in forever! Four warmups and no codes! No codes! I can't thank you enough! But thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Great to hear, These days even getting new parts can be fun. I've got a few cars waiting for parts that are on intergalactic back order, even the local dealer is buying auction cars to strip for parts.

Yeah, at first, I failed smog because of a tape job on a tiny vacuum tube. Went to you pull it because no one had it. I found one. It was the wrong one, but I pulled off a tiny modification. Tagged and running with nowhere to go. I think it's time to invest in a 3D printer and voila! In any event, I am forever in your debt. I couldn't have done it without your expertise and your unmitigated willingness to share it. You are an unsung hero in my book. Thanks again!
