The car was fine, drives excellent, went to start it yesterday and it took a while to start, then went to move it and the engine is bogging, very little throttle response, takes forever to move at all, then stalls many times when put in gear. Based on these codes do you think it's the crank shaft sensor? Codes attached.

Hi,

I did some reading on both codes. The 0016 indicates a correlation issue between the crankshaft position sensor and the bank one intake camshaft position sensor. Most commonly, it is a stretched timing chain, a failing timing chain tensioner, an electrical issue, and even dirty engine oil.

At this point, I recommend not driving the vehicle until this is resolved.

So, has anything been done to the timing chain recently? Is the engine oil maintained, clean, and full?

If you look below, I attached the diagnostics specific to the code as far as the electrical aspects. Take a look through them and let me know if you are comfortable performing them.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

Oil is okay, nothing was done to timing but I don't know about previous owners, timing chain stretching does t happen overnight in don't think so, was excellent the day before. I pooked at the CPS and the connector was half broken, someone tried to remove it but didn't know how. I removed it and cleaned it. Cleaned connector with electrical spray. Out it back and it was worse. I played a bit with the connector and started, and it started and revved fine. I ordered a sensor and a pigtail connector as a start, and dumping it in the auction anyways but couldn't do that with it not running it all. Dang chains on these cars always fail.

Hi,

Is the timing chain something you plan to replace? If you are, I attached the directions below. Take a look through them and let me know if you have questions.

Also, there are two different versions of chain tensioners possible. Both are indicated in the directions.

Let me know if this helps.

Take care,

joe
