No professional tries to clean a fuel filter Also, except for diesel engines, you will not solve a running problem on a Chrysler product by replacing the fuel filter. Unless they rust out and start leaking, you can expect them to last the life of the vehicle.
You know we need a lot more detail and observations that what you have shared so far. Have you determined if you are losing fuel pressure, spark, or more commonly, both? Depending on the symptoms and observations, there are two real good suspects. One is the crankshaft position sensor and the other is the fuel strainer inside the gas tank. Intermittent stalling that appears to be heat related is usually caused by failing crankshaft position sensors and camshaft position sensors. To identify those, you might get lucky and find there is a diagnostic fault code set related to one of those circuits. Often there is not enough time for a fault code to set; then the best approach is to connect a scanner to view the state of the two sensors. There will be some indication as to whether their signals are showing up during cranking.
If the stalling occurs more on really hot days and as soon as you start coasting from highway speed, suspect the fuel strainer. To identify that, I clip a fuel pressure gauge under a wiper arm so I can watch what happens when the problem occurs. This has happened to me five time with four vehicles. The symptom I described about stalling when coasting pertains to fuel injected engines. The more load on the engine, the better it will run. With carburetors, the engine typically stalls at highway speed, and it will not restart until the engine has been off for about five to ten minutes, then you will get another couple of miles before it occurs again.
