Engine Cooling problem
1997 Buick Park Avenue V8 Automatic 120000 miles

I am writing for my son's car, overheats easy, put new thermostat in, replaced hose this week, hose blew today. Had radiator flused a yr ago. Seems junk is still in radiator. When he put thermostat in last week & new hose ran ok for 5 days. There seems to be an adjust screw on thermostat box, what tension should be used.

If there is a screw on the thermostat housing, it's an air bleeder to remove air from the system, you can try opening it some and wait till antifreeze trickles out, then close it, but I have a question or two. Do the radiator cooling fans work? When you turn on the A/C does it start with the compressor? Which hose broke?
Therm installed with spring to engine block?

Thank you for your reply, car has new therm, 2nd new rad hose, the one to radiator. No, the fans don't turn on from what my son said today. He put a new hose on today, temp got to 270, steam from new hose & when car shut off, puddle of fluid. Seems to be worse from last week.

Unplug the radiator fan, use a test ligh in the connector, turn on A/C, does the light light? Same when it reaches normal operating temp without A/C on, if the test light lights up, the fan is NG, if it doesent the relay under the hood in the fuse block is ng or the ECT(engine coolant temp sensor).
