I will be driving and the car will simply die. I can sit from 2 to 4 minutes and the engine will normally start again. I have had two instances where I sat for as long as 20 to 30 minutes before it would restart. I had a shop install an electronic control module (very expensive) and the car worked for about 2 1/2 days before it went back to the same mode. The shop told me I would have to wait until the car would not start again before they would be able to detect what is wrong. What would you recommend I do? In our society a car is really a necessity and we are a one car family.

I recently went thru this with my 91 park ave. I changed the ignition switch which is active while the engine is running, not just at startup, and the ignition module under the three spark coils . The final thing I did, which cured the problem, is replace the crankshaft position sensor. It's still running now.
