How can I adjust my car alternator to charge my 100AH battery well? The alternator is charging, but because I do not always drive the car very far the battery is not getting enough charge. My alternator is 90 amps. The battery is not getting charge well because the distance from my house the office is not far.

Hello,

First are you having any issues with it starting? Have you used a multi-meter to see what the alternator is putting out (should be 13.5 - 15.1)? If you are then a question.

Do you have and leave any portable electronics plugged in and charging with vehicle off? If so try unplugging them and see how it goes. Also, if have not already would suggest taking to a parts store and ask them to check your battery condition, if your battery is more than four years old would suggest replacing.

Okay, so there is no adjustments on an alternator your vehicle only requires a 65 amp, a lot of people put larger amp in do to having aftermarket stereos and amps to compensate for the extra power needed to run them.

Hi Hassan,

First off you will need a digital Multi-Meter (picture below). You will turn the meter to 20 volts scale (see picture), with vehicle running touch red lead to positive battery post and black lead to Negative post (see picture). And as stated voltage should be between 13.5 - 15.1 maybe as high as 15.5 volts

Battery Voltage with vehicle off should be 12.5 - 12.8 volts.
