That sounds right. It could have kicked some fuel back through if it was stalling. At this point, I'm not too concerned about that.

I'm still thinking it's the air control valve not functioning properly.

I drove the truck today and it's still not right. I parked it and in a few minutes tried to start it right back up and it was flooding out real bad, took a stick and hit the IACV lightly then started it up but it's still not running correctly.I believe it's the IACV or the wiring related to the IACV. What are your thoughts? Any thoughts are better than no thoughts, lol.

If tapping on the unit allowed it to start, I would say there is a good chance.

I drove the truck tonight and it tried to quit a few times, I patted the gas to keep it going. I monitored the engine and the MAF was.64-.69 the temperature rose to 183 deg. The o2 sensors were in the range of 1-1.
I am thinking about ordering a Hittachi IACV. I also checked when the engine was attempting to die was the fuel pressure dropping & it wasn't, I had raised the hood so I could pull the gas gauge up towards windshield to watch it, worked fine. What's your thoughts on this? Thanks

I have to be honest, I'm not 100% sure. However, I can tell you I never experienced that condition on these vehicles.

It's weird condition, I checked my oil a little while ago and it's showing low, but this vehicle takes hours sometimes to drain the oil back into the crankcase, might wait until in the morning to check again. One time I didn't allow it to drain back down and over filled it with oil, then had to drain it out. The truck acts like the ignition was just turned off or the gas was just stopped immediately when the truck quits, it's weird, then sometimes it wants to flood when I start it back, then I wait a few minutes then it fires right back up, odd.

Do you think I might have a relay kicking out after it gets hot, maybe working intermittently?

I ordered another IACV today from an ebay seller that had told me they warrantied this product that I ordered for 2 years. Today it flooded out so bad it quit on me while driving up the road once the motor had got up to operating temperature. If this doesn't work, might have to buy the complete throttle body. Do you think it could possibly be the TPS and it not giving the code for it? Do those throttle position sensors need to be cleaned occasionally or do you know about that? Thanks for your answers.

Joe, this is a question that I've been going to ask you but keep forgetting. If I accidentally got some oil or grease on the tip of that PCV that I put in the truck, do you think it could be causing me the problem I have with my truck flooding out? Thanks again for your help.

Honestly, a PCV that is stuck open can cause issues with vacuum. Do you think that is a possibility? Do you feel enough grease got on it to cause it to plug or stick?

Remember I put a new one on, plus I blew both ways to make sure it works correctly and it did. Could I take the hose off PCV and plug the line to see what happens?

Do you think there might be a possibility the line going to the PCV might have a hole in it?

Sure, anything like that is possible. Have you checked for vacuum leaks using carburetor cleaner? If there is a leak, it will draw in the cleaner and the idle speed will increase.

I mean't to say the crank position sensor instead of the PCV in an earlier message I sent you, if I maybe got some oil or grease on the tip of it, do you think it might effect the way it works? Today I used some carburetor cleaner and there were no vacuum leaks to my knowledge. I ran the truck for a while tonight, it dropped the idling down to zero again and the motor stopped then I took the plastic connection off the mouth of the air filter cover that goes to the plastic air flow all the way across to the drivers side where it sucks the air through a plastic box back to the air filter. The truck seemed to run better that way, maybe the air flow from that plastic box is blocked with debris, maybe leaves or some other material. The truck did not quit after I done that but I need to drive it some more tomorrow. What's your thoughts on that?

Hi,

The crankshaft position sensor is nothing more than a hall effect magnet. You want it to be clean. As far as the stalling, I think there would be other symptoms. If it is blocked by the grease, I feel it would not function properly at any speed.

Let me know how it runs for you tomorrow with the added air flow.

Take care,
Joe
