So I have a 2002 Neon with 58000 km, and I went through a large puddle (about 50 feet long and 6 inches deep), well about half of it, and I was going parkinglot speed, so about 15 or 20, and she stalled, I pushed it out of the puddle, and tried to start it, it almost turned over then the starter went, I took it to the dealer and they told me the engine needed a rebuild, and now today it's I need a new engine, and i'm just wondering, even if the engine did have water in it, could I not just drain it and all that? I didn't bend any rods, or so they've said, and i'm not buying the fact that 6 inches of water would cause a complete engine loss. It almost turned over before the starter went. Anyone have any advice? The est. Cost for the repair is over 3000$ and I just put an extended warrenty on the car for 2400$ help please!

Well if the exhaust sucked up water into the engine.I have seen it happen. Pull all spark plugs and crank enine to remove the water. Install NEW plugs and see if it starts! Also check the converter for damage.
