I have a 2002 F150 Super Crew 2x; 5.4L engine; 72000 miles; automatic trans with new battery.

After replacing the dead battery, I have experience cranking problem. The dash lights are out, odometer has green dash lines across it, anti theft light is blinking; and the truck will not start even though it is cranking.

I can wait until the odometer dash lines disappear, then I can try starting the truck. Usually it will restart.

I had the engine/computer codes checked: no codes noted.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks.

It sounds like you need to have Ford reflash the PCM

Thank you for your response/assistance.

What is the PCM? How does this cause the issue I am experiencing? I have seen since I entered by question, a web note surrounding a similar issue by another, but someone told him that it was caused by the passive theft system/bus control bar.

I appreciate a short explanation of the PCM.

Thank you again.
