Not accelerating properly

Hi, I just got my brake pads replaced and master cylinder. After being on the road and braking on stops for about 10 minutes, my gas pedal gets harder to press and car comes to a stop without brake pedal. I have to press hard on my gas pedal to make my car go at least to 15 MPH but it sounds like I'm pushing it too hard and don't really want to mess it up. Any idea what it could be? I'm fairly new at this.

Hello,

I want to make sure that I got your concern correctly.
So when you apply throttle the car does not want to move?
Does your engine rpm rises when you apply the gas pedal?

From what you are describing it sounds like you might have locked up brake calipers and it is not releasing the brake pads and as you try to accelerate the brakes are staying 'applied' and making it difficult for the car to move.

A brake caliper can be seized up due to internal failure or it could happen is the brake hose collapses, which does not allow the brake fluid to retreat and keeps the pressure on the brake pads.

On situations like this you do not want to drive the car until it is fixed, as it can further damage the brake system and other components.

Let me know any concerns you might have.
Thank you.
