Hi,
First, when the key is turned to either on or start, all the coils receive power from the PCM power relay. It has to be working or none of the coils would work.
The PCM provides a ground path at specific times for the plugs to receive spark. On this vehicle, cylinders 1 and 5 receive spark at the same time from the same coil pack. For the coil pack ignition system, each coil within a pack fires 2 spark plugs at the same time. The plugs are paired so that as one fires during the compression stroke the other fires during the exhaust stroke. The next time the coil is fired the situation is reversed. So, in theory, if cylinder 1 is getting spark, cylinder 5 should be as well. (See pic 1 below for connector information) Notice on the connector there is only one connection for coils 1 and 5.
Are you having any issues with cylinder 1? When you check for spark at cylinder 5, is there anything there? If you haven't, here is a link showing how to test for spark:

Is the only code you are getting a P0305? Are there any others?
Let me know. Hang in there. We'll figure it out. Also, let me know exactly how things were switched and checked.
Take care,
Joe
