My astra 1.9cdti design 150bhp 16v has a lot of black smoke on start up and under accelleration, am worried its the manifold, the egr has been cleaned and blanked off, dpf removed, and has had a remap and bypassed dpf/egr because of the limp mode but the smoke is imbarresing, I cant see any split pipes but they can be hard to see unless under pressure so could of missed 1, I understand not enough air getting thru so air filter replaced, will replace oil again and filter but was done 1200miles ago, and will replace fuel filter, have been told to check MAS sensor and clean it, is there anything else I can check and any instructions, thanks daz

Black smokes indicates its running too rich -more fuel than air could be caused by the following

1. Excessive fuel pressure can be cause by restricted fuel return line
2. Defective Oxygen Sensors.
3. Leaking injectors and fuel pressure regulator.
4. Coolant temperature sensor out of calibration.
5. Restricted air intake system.

Thanks rasmataz, i've found a company who will connect it up to a machine on a rolling road which gives me a print out so I can see whats right and wrong saves hours of labour, but need to sort my alternator first, the battery light came on yesterday cant find any loose connections and my multi meter needs a battery, but thanks for the overview, keep up the good work, best regards dazza
