From overheating you most likely blew a head gasket and have water in the cylinders

I really hope not. I had a friend listen for the fuel pump to come on when ignition is in run position and we couldn't hear it, could that be the cause? Maybe a relay of some sort?

You can check the fuel pressure but from your description, as it is the only thing I have to go on, I still think it is a head gasket

The car sat for a year and when it over heated I saw a hose was loose from the radiator and antifreeze was coming out. Fixed the hose but still won't start.

With a pressure gauge. You can rent one from a parts store and it has instructions.
