White smoke is coming out of my muffler when I drive. What could be the problem?

As a rule, white smoke is actually steam that dissipates quickly. That would indicate burning coolant. You should be noticing loss of coolant and overheating if that is the case which could indicate a blown head gasket or cracked head.
Some people mistake a grayish, oily smoke for being white which would be oil consumption for some reason.
