hi i have a 02 ford mondeo tddi and today there is a lot of white smoke coming from the exhuast and i have no power the car has done 107,000 miles but i dont know when the last service was as it was a private sale is this gonna cost me a lot of money to fix also i can smell burning

white is burning coolant. have it checked for a blown head gasket.

silly question but how do you check blown head gasket if you mean is there oil around the head then i cant see any visible oil as engine is quite clean

no, internal. you need someone to do a leak down test to confirm the failure.
