I have had my system tested but the auto store could not determine whether the problem was the alternator or the regulator. Since the regulator is on $50 as compared to the $200 for the alternator, I decided to replace the regulator first. I can't find anything with the correct connector to match the supposedly exact fit replacement. Where is the voltage regulator located on the 7,3 liter diesel?

it's inside the alternator check the fusible links in diagram first though see if they have battery voltage on both sides. they can be by fuse box or junction block.
