I have a 2001 Saturn L200, and I couldn't turn the key and the wheel was locked up. So we took the spare key and it turned on, the car sounded very weird then shut off in about a minute. Popped the hood and smell something burning, tried to start it again heard a click and started smoking. The smoke was coming from a black housing of wires that split in 3 different directions. It seems the only thick red wire inside got really hot and burned the the black wrap around it. I was thinking ignition switch or starter solenoid? Please help

Unless that wire comes straight from the battery it doesn't go to the starter. The trigger wire to the starter is purple.
