2001 Pontiac Sunfire Key wont turn

My key wont turn the ignition, it yakes a whole lotta jiggling and adds ALOT of stress on me. Thinking I should get a new key cause mine looks worn, but dont wanna spend the money of I get new key and find out I need whole new cylinder lock. Ive sprayed electrical component cleaner inside, and tap on it with little hammer, and the key is straight, so what should I do. And I heard there was a recall for the ignition

That is a tough one. The key can be worn to a point that it doesn't fit the tumbler quite right. I would start with that. If it still doesn't work, then consider a new tumbler.

You have to start somewhere, so I recommend the key first. It is the cheapest thing to try.
