I was driving home from work as suddenly the car was loosing power and the engine stopped. The fuel pump was renewed last year, even so the sparks and distributor cap. At the end of the year I had to install a new radiator. My technician says that the the fuel is coming but that the sparks aren't getting electricity. He doesn't have a computer to read out the cars computer.

My first suspect would be the crank sensor. However, without codes, it becomes a guessing game.

Code 0174 meant fuel Trim System Lean Bank 2. I guess that this is due to the fact there is gas installation installed in my van. So this is not the main issue why the car won't start.

The technician told me today that electricity is getting to the spool (coil) but no further to the spark cap.
Can I with the help of the code reader looking this up?

I don't think it. I saw only one coil mounted on the engine.

Please understand, this was 14 years ago that I worked on these on a regular basis. If I recall, there should be 3 coil packs, each supplies 2 cylinders. If that is correct, there is a digital ignition control unit, (DIC), they mount to. If it is bad, spark will stop to all or select cylinders. If there is only one coil, then I would recommend checking the ignition control module in the distributor.

So I recap: the electricity is getting to the coil but not to the spark cap, because the coil looses his electricity on the engine. The technician saw it coming out the coil on the engine. There is one coil for the six sparks. I ordered a new coil through a specialist who checked it with the vin number.
