The coil on the sparkplug of my 99 f 150 with 4.6 liter engine broke off and the engine is now making a loud noise from that area, I was told that the plug may have blown out and likely need to be rethreaded - it that a big job, can it be done by a reasonably good do it your selfer?

That is both a big job and one I would recommend having done by a trained tech. The problem is usually related to the 5.4L, but the 4.6 have been known to have problems too. Hopefully, the threads are okay and someone can remove the plug without too much effort.
