Is there a solenoid switch built onto the starter for an 1986 ford f150 300ci. Or is there just then one on the fender? Also does that same motor have an ignition coil where the wire goes from it to the distributor cap with a regular plug wire. Is it is there also a major ground wire from the engine to the chasis or is the ground from the starter bolt the main ground for everything?

Look at that solenoid on the fender. One large stud has the fat positive cable coming from the battery positive post. Look at the size of the cable on the other fat stud. If it's just as fat, there's no other solenoid on the starter. If it's a real small wire, the main solenoid is on the starter.

You should have just relay on fender, and there should be a ground from frame to the
Engine, and on from the chassis to the engine, normally just a ground strap
From back of firewall, you should have both an engine/ frame ground and a body one
