Cars wasting to much gas and loss of power

I have a chevy 2001 as mentioned and it wastes way to much gas on me if I go under 10 miles itll waste almost a damn quart of gas! And when I accelerate it jerks alittle and powers feels like is lost.

*ive changed the oil, oil filter, spark plugs, and cat converter.
yet still to see it wasting gas and power. Any info will be appreciated

What motor? Is the check engine light on?

V6 engine and the damn light turns on and off.
