My 99 chevy lumina has been over heating for a few weeks. I removed thermostat. Still overheats replaced radiator. Still over heats. Mechanic at work said my waterpump was working correctly. Ive noticed antifreeze running down on both sides of motor so im losing some coolant. Dont think its enough to make it run hot? No coolant in oil tho. Good sign? Last week it ran hot and I was stopping every 2 or 3 miles to let it cool off and add water. I barely made it home that day. Now. It will run but has hardly no accerlation like its bogged down or something. Loss of horse power, or compression, something I dont know. My question is. Did I fry my engine driving home or could the over heating have caused a sensor malfunction of some kind? Car is old but is all I have. Cant afford another one right now. Is it dead or what? One more thing. Engine seems to rev up good when first cranked. Belts now squeel for some reason. But after just a short distance down the road it loses horsepower. Im stumped.

Yes, it sounds like you could have done a lot of damage by now. First off, you cannot run these engines without a thermostat. That messes up all kinds of things. You know you have a coolant leak and you are ignoring it. You have probably elevated the problem to a new engine at this point. Have a professional determine how bad it is.
