1995 Chevrolet Cavalier What should I do?

So I got this car given to me for free. It already has 216,000 miles on it. It has a blown head gasket also, which after researching about this car its very common. Theres a couple other things wrong with it, but I had a guy come look at it and will replace a bunch of stuff on it for $670. I don't know what I should do ! I have been riding a bike to work and back for about a year now and I need a car for myself and my 3 year old son. Even if I could get another year out of it I would be grateful ! Is it even worth it to put that money I get from my taxes into it? I need some advice. This guy seems really confident on fixing this car and he loves fixing these cars.

If you put $600 in it and it lasted another 6 months is better than walking or riding a bike especially with a son. It really depends on what else is wrong with it. An dwha the condition of other things are in the car
