93 Jeep Cherokee

My 93 grand jeep Cherokee started up good got gas drove a couple of miles heard a real soft puff sound motor quits but all electrical still work try to crank it rough sounding try again nothing again it would crank very rough try to put it in drive mashed the gas to the floor wouldn't go let it sat for a few hours know when you try to crank it makes clicking noise don't start all electrical still works before this happen I changed the plugs oil and gas filter it seem to drive rougher on this morning it drove and sounded great whats going on
