Engine Performance problem
1993 Ford Ranger 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 261000 miles

My Ranger is acting it's cutting off or not getting enough gas. At idle and low gear it jerks the truck. It has cut off a couple times. If I give it some gas in idle sometimes that helps. It doesn't do this in 3, 4 and 5th gear. Spark plugs and wire cluster changed out about 10 mo's ago. Oil and battery fine. Starter replaced 2 mo's ago.

Oxygen sensor
Catalytic converter
Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

Dirty or worn spark plugs
Bad plug wires
Weak ignition coil
Wet plug wires
