Its got gas in the tank but wont start

I started my truck and it rotated but did not kick over, I put starting fluid in carb, and it ran for five seconds, and shut off I rotated again and without fluid and it didnt kick over. Can you help me

Key to ON listen for fuel pump. When cranking check fuel pressure.
