1993 s10 blazer- reman engine has 70,000, uses no oil or antifreeze, no gas smell coming from it, no check engine lights, GM fuel pump changed within last 10,000 miles, reman distributor with new module and cap has about 15,000 miles, new spark plug wires, spark plugs, coil, idle air control, map sensor, running a K & N air filter and is clean. This Blazer starts fine when its 40 degrees or above, but when it starts getting colder then this it doesn't want to start. The colder it gets, the worse it gets. We have had a lot of 10 degree or colder days and this is when its really tough to start. It turns over fast, thanks to a good battery, but doesn't want to fire. Fuel pressure is at 59 psi while cranking in cold temps, and may take 6 or 7 times before it acts like it wiil fire off and then backfires a little through the intake. If I keep the key in the start position for long time cranking, it will slowly start to fire, back fire a little through the intake, and will start, run smooth, and runs like a champ. I did pull the intake manifold to check for a leaking spider and fuel regulator and it checked out with no leaking. I have used injector cleaner regularly. Could there be a temp sensor bad? Maybe distributer cap or module going bad? Just had that mentioned to me. From the time it gets started, it doesn't miss, bog, or run bad. I have kept it in a heated garage in the middle of this cold weather with heat at 50 degrees and it starts fine, let it sit outside in the cold, and it acts up. Until now, it has always started in cold weather. Thanks.

Yep, I have seen the engine coolant temperature sensor short out when cold which is easy to change out to see if it fixed the problem, here is the location. Here is a generic guide to help you step by step with instructions in the diagrams below to show you how on your car.
