Attempting to start my car, when I turn on ignition to turn the engine over, starter clicks once, (All inside lights turn on, but dimmed out), so I bought a new battery and at the same time I personally took off my starter motor, took it in to Nearest Autozone for free testing and checked out fine, slapped the starter back on along with new battery hoping it might work, but still just clicks
Was told I have a bad connection somewhere justdont know where to start,
And I cannot tow my cadillac anywhere due to parking break is on and will kot come off unless car is on and switched in gear, even jump starting wont work.
What should I do?
Where should I start checking?
Do not want to be charged hundreds of dollars to find out its a 5$ relay or something small,
Thanks

That bench test on the starter really doesn't prove much. You can have a bad battery, bad connection, bad starter or seized engine.

Put a socket on the crankshaft bolt and see if you can turn the engine by hand. If so. Rule out seized engine can concentrate on the electrical sully to the starter.

That was a typo. It was electrical SUPPLY.
Where is crankshaft bolt.
At the front of the crankshaft in the center of the pulley.

Ok so I had cadillac towed to a auto repair shop, and mechanic told me car wont turn over because AC compressor locked up, new one should turn car on.
Does that sound right?

You can test that theory by simply removing the belt long enough to start the engine.
Simply hanging a new compressor would resolve the engine running situation but if you want the A/C to be workable, it will require additional repairs to the A/C system beyond just the compressor. You would also have to investigate the reason for the compressor failure in the first place.
