Vince Lettau, my 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham suddenly would not crank. It turned on and the dash lights and cluster powered up, but the ignition would not allow the key to turn any farther to power the starter motor or solenoid. I by-passed this neutral safety switch by turning the key on and stepped on the brake pedal, moved the transmission from Park to Neutral, and the turned the key to the starter position, and the car starts every time. So now I am wiring around the this failed safety switch connecting the starter solenoid purple power wire directly to a 12 volt battery source through a relay so the wires won't burn open after one engine start.
