1986 GMC Jimmy. Is there a fus link under the hood I can check or an ignition fuse in the fuse block under the dash? The short was the hot wire to the clock, I think? Hasn't been 1 in it for the last 10yrs, the fuse didn't blow, it melted, jumped out whipped out a pair of pliers unhooked the battery cable found the pinched wire pulled the melted fuse out & replaced.

Now it won't start, cranks but won't start! I'm thinking fusible link, relay or a ignition fuse under the dash? I'm laying on the ground its snowing & colder than a well diggers butt, so I'm looking for a good place to start? :) Oh yeah I'm poor as dirt too! Thats why I'm driving a 1986 GMC Jimmy S-15 with 200000 miles on it. Your help would be ever so much appreciated ! THANKS Scott E. Dogg

Check to see if you are getting spark and fuel to the engine. Also, check to see if any other damage was done in the fuse box.

I'm getting fuel. I didn't see any damage in the fuse box. I pinched a hot wire that went to a clock that's not been in the truck in 10yrs, don't know why the fuse didn't blow but it started melting before I pulled the battery cable off! I'm thinking it's a fusible link under the hood? I have a Chiltons manual but it's to general covers 10yrs & twice as many models.
