My Nissan 720 2wd P/U (manual trans.)Is running but has a few problems. I know that I need to rebuild my carb but I turned the idle screw and it's idling ok now. One problem that concerns me is that when I go to turn the truck of it shakes pretty bad before I do. How can I fix this?

Do you mean the idle is rough? If so, have you checked for vacuum leaks?

Do a visual inspection first. Start the engine and listen. If you are lucky, you may hear a hissing noise. If you can't locate any leaks, go to our home page under the DIY section for directions using carb and choke cleaner to check. What happens is you spray it on the intake, vacuum hoses. And see if the RPM's change. If they do, there is a leak in the area you are spraying. NOTE: This can be a fire hazard. If you hit a surface that is hot enough, it can catch fire, so make sure you to have a fire extinguisher near by.

Also, make sure the choke is opening fully when the engine warms up. If I remember correctly, there is a vacuum choke pull off on these. Make sure it is working properly.
