Hello,
If you are able to start it for a little bit with starter fluid, then it is likely that the engine is not getting fuel.
It could be due a restriction in the fuel line or a weak/bad fuel pump. It can also be a clogged fuel filter.

When you turn the key to the on position, can you hear the fuel pump turning on?
If the pump turn on then you will have to check to see if you are getting fuel to the engine.
The best way to do this is to test the fuel pressure using a fuel pressure gauge. Those gauges can be borrowed from your local auto parts store.
This car should have 58 PSI (+/- 5 PSI) of fuel pressure.
Here is a helpful video of how to test fuel pressure:

Also a clogged fuel filter can also prevent fuel from reaching the engine. The fuel filter on this vehicle is located in the tank, it is part of the fuel pump.
Also keep in mind that bad gas can prevent the engine from starting. Which could an issue as the vehicle has been sitting for some time.
Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.
