Won't start

I was replacing battery and the spanner touched outer casting and sparked now it won't start and the service light is flashing I have not purchased the car yet but I'm currently paying for it from my girlfriends father who is going to be massively annoyed that a perfectly working car is now completely lifeless any possible help massively appreciated. Check engine fuses first, proberbly has blown due to the dead short.
