Does it move at all? Do you hear any noises?

Try holding the switch down or up and hitting the lower front of the door panel. This might jar the window motor into functioning again.

Regardless, you might need a motor and regulator.

The window has been acting up and I assumed it was the motor so I took the door panel off and I saw that the window was of trck wen I put it back on track and plugged the door back into the switch part it doesn't work! I tried to test the power going to through the connectors and the one going to the motor and my door speaker are not showing and any power to them! I have replaced the motor and checked the fuses! What else could the problem be? I need to know asap my window is rolled all the way down and I need it to go back up atleast!

My front passenger window as well as my drivers side rear window are not working correctly. Most of the time I cant get them to roll down, if they do get rolled down I cant get them to go back up. Is there any way for me to manually roll the power windows up when they get stuck down?

Hi Feli_510,

Either the switches are bad or the motors are weak.

If it is the switches, the only other way you can roll them up is to remove the door panel, disconnect the motor wire socket and apply battery voltage to the motor to wiind up or down.

If motor, you can try vibrating the door panel to get the motor working.

I have a 1995 Honda Civic LX 4 door with about 180K. Just a few weeks ago the power windows stopped working. All the fuses are OK. Any ideas why this happened? Can I fix it? Or do I have to go to a dealeshipr?

If they all stopped I would check fuses, then I would look for a relay, probably in the fuse box. Don't forget to look under the hood at the fuse box. The driver door is the master and the problem will likely be found here.

Blown fuse #14 (20 amp) under the hood. Or the relay is bad. Test and replace if Black on Yellow or White on Red wire is open. Try another relay in its place.

Electrical problem
1995 Honda Civic 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 190+ miles

Hi-

I have a 95 Civic, 2 door EX that as of a few days ago the power windows stopped working. I looked at the fuses and changed out a blown fuse and changed out another fuse that had the wrong amp. ( My power door locks do not work- previous owner said he couldn't fix so I have only locked car with key since I've owned) the over amp. Fuse was for power locks so I borrowed that fuse to replace blown fuse for windows.

That worked initially but window power went out a few hours later. Perhaps once I turned off engine it reset, if thats possible?

Fiddled with fuses again- check all fuses and no blown fuses. The fiddling worked again for a few hours and then power windows stopped working again. Am I missing something?

I'm a girl- I have basic mechanical experience - changing tires, fluids, oil. Fuses and light bulbs but i'm not afraid to get under the hood so does anyone have any suggestions that I can try that aren't very complicated?

Thank you for your time,

Simone

The second time when you fiddled with the fuses what exactly did you do?

If you replaced the fuse and it worked that means that the fuse was blown and you have a short in the circuit somewhere. It may be the window motor drawing too much amperage or a wire that has shorted out.

If you just wiggled it back and fourth you may have a loose connection at the back of the junction block (fuse box) or it may be a corroded connection.

For a while now my windows have had problems going back up. They would go down just fine at a normal speed. But going up, they're slow 'sometimes', having to wait long periods of time moving a quarter inch every 30 seconds. Sometimes going up 'fairly' normal, just slightly slow. This is both door windows. But just the other day after my car got a teeny bit rained on w/ the windows down, the driver side window wont go down. I got it back up right when the rain was coming down, but now it wont budge. Also have a problem with the sunrooof opening & closing as well. The sunroof will open, but I have to push upwards to lift it a lil to get it moving. Then when the sunroof closes completely or gets completley open it makes a high pitch squeal as I hold the button. Sometimes it also acts like it doesn't want to close. The problem seems to be worse when theres dew outside or when its been raining. I haven't had them checked for anything yet. Read it could be a fuse/motor/regulator/told something called pigtails. I'm trying to go the shortest route without having to fix everything b4 I find out what it is. What I'm wondering is if the fact that its all 3 could be a sign of something or maybe a symptom that could point me in a direction to start.

Hi TishaAnn. Welcome to the forum. Can't say for sure about the sun roof, but since the windows work in one direction, the motors, wiring, and fuse are ok. A real common problem is the track weatherstripping gets gunked up. The easy fix is to spray the tracks with Silicone Spray Lube. Roll the window down, then spray the lube inside the rubber channels on the sides and let it run down along the edges of the glass. It looks like water but will evaporate quickly and leave a very slippery residue behind.

In the rare event this doesn't help, check for frayed wires between the door hinges. As the strands break, the wire becomes smaller and is unable to carry the amount of current necessary to run the window motors. On cars where the window switches are in the door, all windows have a circuit that goes back through the driver's door hinges and switch assembly. A frayed or broken ground wire or feed wire will affect all windows. A broken window return wire will affect just that one window. The same is true about the motors. A defective motor will only affect that one window.

My rear left window has stopped working completely. It was working fine until all of a sudden it went down bit by bit, stopping and starting randomly and once it was completely down it wont go back up. Ive tried taking the trim off and pushing the window while holding the switch however it still doesnt budge. All three of the other windows are still working perfectly and the central locking on all doors is also.

Take the panel off again, measure voltage at window motor while depressing the window switch. If you have voltage at harness connector then most likely the motor is bad. If you have intermittent voltage, then window switch.

The other possibility is the window regulator assy. Is binding. Try some white lithium on all joints of regulator, and inspect window track for breaks

Thanks mmprince4000,
I forgot to mention I had already replaced the electric window switch because I originally thought that was the problem.

I was wondering if it were possible to somehow force the window up and leave it up without having to buy a new motor? I really couldnt care less if it worked or not, I just need it up.

Thanks in advance,
Nick

You will still have to remove the interior panel. Then use motor drive gear to roll up, disconnect connector at motor.
If motor still turns, use tape to immobilize shaft.

But if motor is bad, you can find one at junk yard for a few bucks, then you have a working window.

Hi there,

You will have to remove the door trim to access the window motor. Test power at motor loom plug, There should be power on one side of the switch when in going up, and power in the opposite terminal when going down, If this is ok the problem is in the motor or regulator assembly.

My passenger side (power) window stopped working about a week ago. I had replaced the driver side regulator & motor about 1 yr ago, so I replaced the passenger side regulator & motor but still doesn't work. I checked both the drivers side & passenger switches with continuity tester & checked the fuses but didn't find any problems with them. I thought I'd ask to see if you're aware of any power window issues that are typical with these cars.

Hi cyberwatson,

There are no issues with the power windows as far as I know of.

Did you test if the motor is working?
Did you test for power supply?

Unfortunately, I'm not real good with electrical testing. I have a multimeter and am trying to figure it out. Is there an easy way you can recommend to tell if the motor works?
