No. If the harness is damaged, you only need to fix the harness.

If it is just the connector then you don't need to do the entire harness. This website sells most all the connectors with wiring pigtails so all you need to do is cut off the damaged connector and splice on the new one.

Transmission stopped engaging all gears including park upon a hard acceleration at a stop light. Heard whining sound and felt like somerhing was spinning when tried to put in drive or reverse. Pulled code with diagnostic reader: P0731. Saw online a TSB for "loss of power"- mode, but the mil never illumiated. How do I fix this?

We need to start a new post with this info. We need to keep it to one topic to each post so that others can find the solutions for each issue. They won't find a transmission issue under an RKE post.

I attached the first part of this code. Either the fluid is low, there are other codes, or you have an internal transmission issue. Based on your other symptoms I suspect you have a transmission failure.

Why would the flash part number for the PCM in a scan report be different than the part number?

The part number for the actual part is just a catalog number that Mopar assigns to it. The flash part number is the software number that goes into the PCM from the scan tool. So technically speaking the flash part number is not an actual "part" number. It would be better called a software number.

Just like you can have different iPhone 10's with different ios numbers.

So you could check different Challengers and they will all have the same part number of the PCM but could have different software numbers depending on if they had all the updates completed. If a vehicle never had an update completed then it will have the same software number it was built with. If it gets updates the number will change.

The only exception to this is if they made an improvement to the PCM itself and then they will change the PCM part number to distinguish the difference. So it is possible to have cars with different PCM part numbers but only if the actual component is replaced with a later version.

No the WCM has no effect on the TCM. It only communicates with it via the bus network and tells it basic needed info but they don't control anything with each other.

If the DDM gets its odometer mileage info from other modules located in the same car the DDM is in, then what would constitute having the original odometer reading of when a dtc originally set by the DDM, to be 4 miles less than the mileage on the car's odometer at time the DDM was installed from a salvage car?

Can a "active" dtc be set by a DDM, and then DDM be replaced with another DDM from another car and still show the original mileage of when dtc set when original DDM was in car?(And after several ignition cycles and driven miles between replacing DDM)

The 'flash part number' for PCM is an "old" flash part number according to chrysler scan tool availability. The same PCM shows its actual 'part number' as "54". 54 doesnt come up for any part number for any PCM anywhere. Is this normal?

Are you looking at Witech? If so, this tool simply looks at the module software number and compares it to the current version on the server at Chrysler. If there is a later version it shows an update available.

If you are looking at the part number for the PCM on Witech and all it shows is 54 then this does not sound normal. This part number should be the OEM part number for the PCM.

This is just a scan tool compatibility issue. Basically it is just not getting a response on the part number that it recognizes so it displays it as a "54." I see it all the time. I attached a scan report from a vehicle I was working with a dealer on today and it has the same thing. Nothing to worry about.

Moving forward we need to get new posts started if your question doesn't relate to the post heading. Others will not find the answer if they have the same one if it is not related.
