Okay, now I understand. Chances are the OD switch on the shifter is bad or the wiring in the shifter has broken. You will need to check it for continunity to see if first the wiring is good, and then if the switch breaks the current.

This transmission shifts fine when first starting. After warm-up, it stays in first gear too long and jerks hard when shifting into second. After driving around town for most of the PM, the overdrive light came on and it seemed to stay in second gear. Since then, it has been working fine on short drives, but still jerks when shifting into second afer warm-up. Any ideas?

The valve body gaskets have a reputatin of blowing out. There use to be an updated gasket with the separator plate. Then It use to be only available with the valve body. Then there use to be a service kit that came with a new plate and gaskets as well as a valve kit to put in the valve body. I'm not sure how it is available now, but I'll bet that's your problem.

Have you had the computer scanned to identify where the problem is coming from? Most parts stores will do it for free.

Let me know.

My O/D light comes on. After the truck warms up. It blinks continuously until the truck is parked and turned off. I have a button to push to turn off overdrive but it does nothing when the light starts blinking.
The truck's shifter is off and you have to move it to park to put in in reverse.

Having transmission rebuilt to solve problem. I was afraid to drive it with this going on. I took it to a mechanic and he suggested that I go ahead and get the transmission rebuilt. We will see how it goes.
