I couldn't turn it off. What causes it? Does low fluid do it? It just started today it does not blink it just come on and wont go off. Even if I push button.

Check the oil level. it may be low. I would run the codes as well, here is a guide to help us get started.

Please run down this guide and report back.

The transmission. It's most likely an internal transmission switch problem. Any transmission shop can verify this but you will need to pay a check out fee.

Recently my overdrive light has been blinking on and off only when I come to sudden stop. I noticed after if starts doing this my truck seems to have trouble accelerating very fast when I come from being completely stopped to about the first gear. It then kicks into gear and is fine until I come to another stop again. I usually quickly turn off the truck and back on again while I'm waiting for the red light and it fixes the problem for the most part for about 30 minutes then it starts blinking again. Any idea what the problem could be, and how do I go about fixing this problem?

Start by having the PCM scanned for codes. The light blinking is its way of telling you something isnt right. Get back to us with the info

Most probably you have a fault with the wheel speed sensor which is causing all the problems. Get a scan done to check which wheel sensor or circuit is faulty.

Flashing OD light indicates fault with the tranny. Need to have a diagnostic ran on the tranny, could be faulty sensor or something more internal of the tranny.

I was driving the other day while it was raining and my wipers quite working. I turned around to head home and my transmission started shifting rough, then the overdrive light started flashing. Before I made it to the driveway then the service engine light came on. I had a vehicle that did similar problem and it was the alternator. It was not the problem but I changed it anyway since the local autoparts store stated the diods were burned out. 2 weeks prior replaced battery.

If the check engine light came on, have the PCM scanned for codes, it may give us a clue as to what happened. It should have recorded a code if it came on and the truck was still running. Have you looked for water in the underhood power center just to see if something got wet by chance? So now the alt is working?

Sorry to take so long to respond. Tried to get mechanic to come to my residents to do a code ck. They only wanted to tow me in then give ck, so I bought a machine myself. The code read PO500 Generic speed sensor A malfuction transmission. Please tell me the location in the transmission (style 'T') and from what year to what year is tranny is compatible. My original email stated that transmission (automatic) was shifting rough, speed odometer quit working, overdrive light was flashing, windshield wipers quit wkg//Thanking you in advance for your help

That code points to a malfunction in theVSS (vehicle Speed Sensor)This will make the speedo not work and the trans shift erratic or abnormal. I would start by removing it and check the gear in the trans. If ok, you may just need a new VSS (Located in tailshaft of trans)

You need to get the computer scanned first and get a code. Some codes can be produced be electrical faults, but others can be mechanical/internal failure. Try to get a code and post back. We can better give you an answer from there.

IS OD the only gear you have, or does it shift through and always shift into OD? In other words, you can't shut the OD off?
