2002 Volvo V70 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 270 Km miles

I just purchased a 2002 Volvo, V70 off from a dealer. After couple of days while driving the car on the highway the oil light come on and the information; No oil pressure, stop safely.

I stopped immediately and checked the oil in the engine. The car had oil and the oil and filter were replaced at the time of the purchase. When I started up the car the oil pressure information was gone.

I drove the car yesterday back and forth to work (approximately 60 kilometers) and the warning light never came on. After some time while driving I noticed when going over bumps on the road the oil information will flick off and on.

I had the oil sensor replaced yesterday and It’s still doing the same thing. I did though notice at times when the light is on the sound on top of the engine will be a bit noisier but nothing severe. If I shut off the car and turn it back on, everything works fine. This doesn’t happen ever time the light comes on.

Today I am planning to take the car to a mechanic to conduct the oil pressure test. I am just hoping that It’s not the worst. Is there any advise you can give me? Does this sound like the engine is gone or could it just be that I have a loose connector somewhere. The car start and drives fine, It doesn’t overheat or looses on RPM’s.

Regards

The ticking noise you hear is from not enough oil getting to the top of the engine. Sounds like you have an internal oil leak and usually it is ecause the oil pick up tube seals are leaking. You will need to have the oil pan removed and replace the seal on the pick up tube and the tube inside the oil pan has seals also that will need to be replaced.
