While driving, sometimes my car's compressor will stop working. The air coming out of the vents continues to blow uncooled air, I stopped the car to confirm that the compressor had stopped turning, it had. I brought my car to my mechanic he could find problems. The a/c had the correct pressure and was blowing at 52 degrees. What is my problem. THANKS

Your compressor clutch clearance is out of specification. Have your mechanic check the clearance with a feeler gage. The gap should be between.3mm to.5mm max. If he can insert a feeler gage greater then 0.5mm then you need to replace the compressor clutch. My car has the same problem but have being a little busy to get to it but the weather out here in L.A. Has being too nice to even worry about it as well? Also I love drivng with my windows half down and moonroof fully open. But the clutch should be looked at closely as the culprit. What you may want to do and I was thinking about trying it myself once I get around to it, is to have your mechanic remove the clutch and remove some of the spacers to close the gap in and get it down to at least 0.5mm If he cant then replace the clutch. If he does close it down close enough let me know please. That way I will know if this should be the new advise I should be giving if it works for you. If he cant do it or does not have the right tools, go to an A/C shop specialist. They will have the proper tools for the job. Keep me posted please.
