I have a 2001 S60 Volvo with about 77000 miles on it. It is an automatic. It started fine at first, but after 30 seconds it turned off. Then it kept trying to start but to no avail. The message that popped up read "ABS Break Service". What? Can that affect the starter? It has been sitting all day in the cold also. I haven't tried to jump it yet since it was so late when I tried to start it, but there is no obvious reason it should be the battery. I will def. Try to jump start it in the morning. Ive noticed you guys have mentioned fuel pressure a lot as a reason for cars not starting. Any suggestions?  By the way, this website is awesome!

Yeap, fuel presssure is very important incorrect pressure you can try all day long all the way to Christmas and nothing is gonna happen.

Once the starter kicks in and turns that engine for 2secs the starter is out of the picture its got nothing to do to keep it running.

So check fuel pressure readings and comeback with it and I'll take it from there.

Thanks!
It was indeed the battery. My car was so low on gas it wouldn't start.
Ahh.I feel dumb.
But now I know if it happens again and it isn't the battery, what it most likely is!
Thanks for what you do.
