1998 Jetta electrical short in blinkers

1998 jetta w/ 60k miles. Recently the blinkers have stopped working when shifting into 5th. Have replaced the bulbs two times. Then took it to a shop that specializes in electrical problems. They said they fixed a short but on the way home when shifted into 5th they quit again. :

I had a similar problem with mine. Found the cooling fan on the radiator was rubbing on the wire harness cutting through the wires. Just make sure the car is not running when you check this. Don't want to see you loose any body parts.
